The Benefits of Yellow Foods

Updated: May 8, 2021

Yellow Food Benefits

Yellow foods are incredibly nutritious and many of them don't lose their color when they are cooked. Various colored peppers, whether raw or lightly grilled, for example, have abundant vitamins and antioxidants that can reverse cell damage that occurs over time, and they also provide contrasting, beautiful shades when served with or alongside food.

An important component of yellow foods are the plant pigments, also known as carotenoids. They fight against cancer, and there is some conversion to Vitamin A, which is beneficial for vision and growth functions in the body. The boosting of the immune system and reduction of body inflammation is also the case when ingesting carotenoids. A phytochemical known as a bio-flavonoid is also present, and because of this, Vitamin C is made available in the body. Retinol is also abundant and this will help reverse the effects of acne and other ageing problems.

Lemons can refresh your skin and make it supple & smooth. Pumpkins provide a good supply of Vitamin A, beta-carotene, and fiber. Pumpkins have collagen, which helps anti-ageing. Mangoes protect the skin against harmful UV sunlight, they prevent cancer due to powerful polyphenols, and they also have Vitamin A. Bananas help lower blood pressure and regulate fluids within the body, and are great for heart health due to potassium, folates, Vitamin C, and antioxidants which are present in abundance. Bananas can lower blood sugar due to the fibers present inside, and are excellent for memory because of the amino acids that are within it.

If you want a good detox of your body, try to include yellow foods in your diet. They promote good pH levels, make the skin radiate with brightness, and improve overall body well-being and mental strength.

It's vital to be moderate when consuming any one type (or a combination of several) yellow food, and to balance your diet with other important nutrition. It's only a combination of solids and liquids such as different vegetables, fruit, meat & fish (if applicable), water, and vitamins & minerals that may fulfil the requirements of a well-rounded diet.
